How to select a low cost stock (<20$) with high returns + moderate risks for day trading purpose?

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

I want to know what parameters (with what values) to look in a stock to buy for 1-5 days investment/trading period.

Also, I want to know if I can buy mutual funds for day trading purpose? If yes, I guess that will be safer approach to invest for this short periods, make profit and then re-invest.

Please advice.

Is a Pattern Day Trader trading the same stock four times a week?

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

I’m a little bit confused with the Pattern Day Trading restriction.

If I buy MSFT and sell it the same day, for four days in a row, I am a pattern day trader. I understand that part.

However, what if I buy MSFT one day and sell it, BBY the next day and sell it, ADBE the day after that and sell it, etc., Am I considered a pattern day trader?
Also, is it the same for options?

Does anyone who has actually tried the "Day Trading Robot" and have a opinion on it?

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Ok, so I’m trying to get into a little of investment trading. I’m have no experience in the subject but I figured if there was a time to get into this might be the time to do it and maybe ride a wave into a couple of extra bucks.

I spent a couple nights surfing the web and I came across this "Day Trading Robot" which is this robot that spits out a couple of stocks weekly via email and tells you when to buy and sell. Pretty much sounds kind of perfect for a Stock dummy like myself. I’m looking for some unbias opinions on the program from average joes like myself that have actually tried it, besides the ones I’ve found on the internet that could be leaning to one side or the other.

I’ve read a few of them on Yahoo.answers but I’m still alittle skeptical especially because one guy was having trouble contacting the business; which is clue one that it’s one of those fly-by-night scams. I hope I haven’t miss the boat about this being a hot topic and someone can give me a little of advice! I appreciate the help!

Where can I find a stock market simulator?

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

I’m looking for a software/ web service that has the abilities to simulate the NY stock market in the past (not only opening and closing rates) for day trading simulation. It must also has an API or some kind of scripting language in order to issue automated requests during the sim.
*** The simulator must simulate the past (on a minute resolution), not the present although it can also do that.
*** The scripting/ API option is also a must.

Stock Day Trading Buying Power?

Friday, June 18th, 2010

I have ,000 in equity at a discount stock brokerage firm. I make my own decisions and trade frequently. It will say I have ,800 in buying power. Just starting today they added something called day trading buying power and it is close to ,000. If I was to use ,000 of this power would it mean I would have to sell what I bought within the day or could I still hold the position overnight? I also can’t see why I am granted ,000 in power for the first time. Anyone know what to tell me about my 2 questions?
